In 2007, I won a local photography contest, and the first prize was a night of comedy with Chris Rock and a 45 minute helicopter ride. This selection of photographs is the result of that ride.
These images capture the fall colours in and around Vancouver. I was so inspired to see the season from 1000 feet in the sky, that I took what I believe are some of the best images I’ve ever shot. Usually cities are photographed on bright sunny days. So to shoot it on a bright overcast day was a unique situation to be in, and has inspired me to think about other less typical ways to shoot from the air.
This day was so calm and placid, it’s a Vancouver that aerial photographers rarely capture, and I hit the time of the year just right to get the fall colours in all their glory.
