Early in my photography career, I was still supporting myself by working on the line in kitchens around Vancouver, a thankless job that leads to back pain, late hours, and bad habits. So when the fellas running the Pacific Dental Conference asked me to shoot some original stock for the marketing of their upcoming conference, it proved to be my way out of the kitchen and into a full time photography career.
During this month long project, I bombed around Vancouver at all hours of the day and night, sunrise to sunset, finding the perfect locations and shooting some outstanding stock images. I had a vision for shooting custom stock a certain way, and this project was my proof of concept.
I proved to myself and my client that this idea has merit, and is valuable to those who really want to stand out in their industry .
It was an absolute passion project, albeit one that paid so well I could up and quit my final kitchen job. Goodbye angry chefs and stressed out co-workers with knives!
I used this gig, along with the others that soon followed, to launch my full time photography career, and I’ve never had a backup job since.
Jon was hired to help with the visual impact we were trying achieve with the conference. We wanted to show imagery that represented growth and expansion; Jon was definitely the right choice. He found us exactly what we were looking for and we were thrilled with the results. Jon was able to capture stunning pictures that allowed us to elevate our campaigns that exceeded our expectations. We would strongly recommend Jon for any project and will definitely be working with him again.Jesse Koteles
